Heijoshin Karate-Do offers traditional group
instruction as well as private personal training.
Group
Instruction
Adult Group instruction is available for men and
women aged 16 years and up. It offers many benefits - multiple
training partners, high energy dynamics, and development of strong spirit. Perhaps the most
important aspect is belonging to a group of like-minded
individuals who support us and urge us to become our absolute best. Adult classes focus on
strong technique, understanding of kata performance and application, physical
fitness, mental focus, and strong self-defense skills. Group training
promotes camaraderie and respect.

In the martial arts, great emphasis is place
upon the Senior - Junior (Sempai - Kohai) mentoring relationship.
More senior practitioners, similar to older brothers and sisters, are responsible for setting high standards
through personal example.
Our motto: "More rank means more
responsibility."

Private
Personal Training for Men and Women

Obtaining
a private personal trainer has become a preferred method of achieving individual goals - in
fitness as well as in the martial arts. We have seen an increase in the
number of clients who choose this method because it allows flexibility of scheduling
and the creation of a program tailored specifically for their
needs.
Personal
training sessions are available for those interested in one-on-one individualized
training, with concentration on fitness, agility, and overall
conditioning as well as the mastery of self-defense skills and a deeper
understanding of Goju-Ryu karate.
Personal
training sessions are designed to meet the needs and expectations of the
individual - whether it be for physical conditioning, competition skills, safety and awareness,
or in-depth study of kata (forms) or kumite (fighting).
Talk to us about your personal goals and we'll help design a karate/yoga/fitness
program to meet them.
Sessions
may be purchased individually and are scheduled "by appointment only". A discount is offered for five sessions
purchased as a block. We suggest a complimentary introductory
session to discuss your goals. Sessions available for all ages and
abilities.
Private
lessons are typically held at Sensei Pounds' home dojo in the Westlake Hills
area, or by special arrangement.
Please
contact Sensei Jim Pounds or Sensei
Theresa Pounds directly for more information.
